The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight—indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. Malachi 4:6 English Standard Version And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.” Malachi 3:2b-3 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap; 3 he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the Lord in righteousness. Malachi 3:14-15 The Message (MSG) “‘It doesn’t pay to serve God. What do we ever get out of it? When we did what he said and went around with long faces, serious about God-of-the-Angel-Armies, what difference did it make? Those who take life into their own hands are the lucky ones. They break all the rules and get ahead anyway. They push God to the limit and get by with it.’” Malachi 3:1 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight—indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:2a New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? “Silver was.. mentioned first because the process of refining silver is more delicate… process (than) refining gold…. Unless if the silver is treated with the right elements it will (quickly) lose its sheen.. a refiner knows that his metal is pure when he can see his own image reflected in the mirror-like surface of the metal.” R. L. Smith, (1984). Micah–Malachi (Vol. 32, p. 329). Romans 8:29a English Standard Version (ESV) For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son… 2 Corinthians 3:18 The Message (MSG) And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him. Deuteronomy 31:6 New International Version (NIV) Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. The Fear Of The Lord:
Father Complex Definition: “A father complex develops when a person has a poor relationship with his or her father. The need for approval, support, love, and understanding progresses into adulthood, and it may result in bad decisions with relationships. Men with father complexes tend to struggle with approval and self-worth, while women tend to yearn for protection and validation.” - Perspectives Counseling “Cheap grace is the grace we bestow on ourselves. Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession...Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer 1 John 4:18 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 1 John 4:17 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world. 2 Corinthians 5:10-11 New International Version (NIV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. 1 John 1:6-7 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true; 7 but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. John 14:6 New International Version (NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Malachi 1:2 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) I have loved you, says the Lord. “'I have loved you'” (v. 1) is not so much a statement about the past as about the present.” - E.M. Schuller, (1994–2004). The Book of Malachi. These words provide the overarching framework for the entire book; whatever will be said—accusation, judgment, promise—will come under this fundamental divine (declaration)” - E.M. Schuller, (1994–2004). The Book of Malachi. Malachi 1:6 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) A son honors his father, and servants their master. If then I am a father, where is the honor due me? And if I am a master, where is the respect due me? The word “honor” means “to be heavy, weighty, burdensome, honored.” R. L. Smith, (1984). Micah–Malachi (Vol. 32). 2 Chronicles 5:14 New International Version (NIV) And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God. Exodus 20:12 New International Version (NIV) “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Malachi 2:4-8 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Know, then, that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may hold, says the Lord of hosts. My covenant with him was a covenant of life and well-being, which I gave him; this called for reverence, and he revered me and stood in awe of my name. True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in integrity and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts, 1 Peter 2:9 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Malachi 3:16-18 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Then those who revered the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord took note and listened, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who revered the Lord and thought on his name. They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my special possession on the day when I act, and I will spare them as parents spare their children who serve them. Then once more you shall see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him. Malachi 4:5-6 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Lo, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of parents to their children and the hearts of children to their parents, so that I will not come and strike the land with a curse. Hebrews 12:6 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) "For the Lord disciplines those whom he loves, and chastises every child whom he accepts.” Comments are closed.
